Public Awareness Efforts Public Awareness Efforts are initiated regularly by CACTC. In addition to its website, the Coalition has articles in the Cortland Standard as often as four times per month. The column is entitled, “Connecting Cortland Communities". Past columns are archived on this website.
The annual Red Ribbon Campaign in October is a way the Coalition addresses public concerns by promoting messages that help develop healthy life styles. Many red tulips have been planted as a reminder to families and residents that conversations about the dangers of substance abuse must be ongoing. When the tulip bulbs emerge in the spring, it is time for the second phase of the Red Ribbon Campaign: The Prom and Party season effort in which the Coalition supports County school districts as they promote safe and healthy celebrations and safety for their students.
There are many new initiatives on the horizon for the Coalition some of which are OTC/Rx, Safe host, party patrols, alcohol density mapping throughout the County, and a Coalition membership drive to mention a few. We’ll be keeping you updated on these exciting projects and soliciting your help in keeping our youth safe and healthy!
