The Incredible Years

With CAPCO as the lead coalition partner, The Incredible Years is being taught in many Cortland County pre-school programs including Headstart, the YWCA, the Child Development Center, and Learning Adventure. The scientifically validated curriculum promotes healthy beliefs and clear standards for behavior, opportunities for involvement in family activities, self-control skills, and recognition of appropriate behavior. The preschool program (Dinosaur School) helps children to cope with challenging situations, control anger, cope with rejection and teasing, solve problem, make friends, pay attention, and cooperate with teachers and classmates. The importance of fantasy play in the 3-7 year old age group is acknowledged through the use of various puppets that model appropriate behaviors for the preschoolers.
